Anyone watching? I've just watched the two hour opener.. the music alone is worthwhile but I did read a review that said it gets better as it goes along. We will see. Treme (pron Treh MAY) Post Katrina New Orleans setting.

I am watching and this HBO offering is wonderful. There is also a documentary on how the show was conceived; interviews with actors producers/directors detailing the selection of the Treme neighborhood and the inclusion of local residents and musicians. Seeing this documentary made the show even more interesting. The person who conceived "The Wire" is behind Treme and includes actors from that show including Clark Peters whose acting skills I truly admire. Gurl I tape the new show every Sunday at 10:00 PM EST.

Thanks! Just set up to record "Treme: Beyond Bourbon.." the documentary. I have mine set to record the earliest showing which is probably in the east coast feed of HBO so it isn't on during prime time out here on the west coast. I see Ep 3 will record here at 7pm Sunday (HBOE) It repeats a bunch.. Gurlie.. give it a try if you have hbo. The first two eps are also available on demand. It really is wonderful. Every time I start thinking I should off my HBO and Showtime they do something like this...

Seamonkey...............HBO sucks me back in as well. I was so upset with the ending of the "Soprano's" I just knew that night that my tv had died;I was ready to give up HBO and Showtime. My Comcast package forces me to even have Latin HBO and I know zero Espanol. Having this tv package is however a little treat to myself .

That preview/documentary about making Treme was excellend! You can tell how excited they are to be making the show and it gets me excited too.. I started with HBO when that was the only way to watch the tennis at Wimbledon and by the time that coverage had moved elsewhere, I couldn't give up HBO/Sho for other reasons.

Loving Treme! We just finished watching the third episode and are SO into it. I knew I would love it but I'm happy that it's as good as it is. Thanks for the heads-up on the documentary - hopefully it's still airing. Who thinks the strippers in the neighborhood are the ones calling the cops?

I'm watching it. It's pretty good - even though there are a few things about life in N.O. post-Katrina that are not accurately reflected in the show. But I have free HBO for one year so I'll keep watching it.

I just need to comment on this. I think Treme may be one of the best shows on TV this year. I'm stunned there are only 8 comments. It's such high quality, with such a great blend of music, the feel of New Orleans, and so many sides of Katrina (long overdue IMHO). And what a great job they are doing blending complex issues with both heartbreak, humor, and great music. I always adored New Orleans, and I'm adoring what this show is doing. My only regret is knowing it's only 10 episodes long...I want more! PS Lexie, I'm wondering what you think is being represented wrong about post-Katrina NO???

I found a 15 minute "making of" Treme but it sounds like you are referring to a longer documentary Marameko? I hope they replay it but I couldn't find it so far. Lurknomore I agree with you 100% but it's hard to find things to comment on other than WOW!

Madalane the documentary was also on HBO,I thought it was longer than 15 minutes but I could be wrong.Do you recall if the documentary you saw also included John Boutee who sings the theme song for the show? I did not even know that "Treme" was a neighborhood/community.

Treme filmed in my hometown on Friday at our local festival. They filmed Lucia Micarelli playing fiddle with The Pine Leaf Boys. They were extremely pleasant to deal with. They were heading back to NO for the wrap party that night.

Madelane, I think you may be right. Each week I think "WOW it just keeps getting better" yet I sit and blather on here about the Celebrity Apprentice etc, while this is the hour of TV that just blows me away each week. I had to comment now, as I think last night's show may be the best hour of TV I've seen in recent memory. Simply brilliant!!! And they should release Shame, Shame, Shame as a fundraising single for NO!! The song really hit home for me, because to this day I have a hard time believing what happened in NO was allowed to happen in the USA. I honestly didn't think it could happen here. Sure, I could see the initial tragedy, but never would have believed the lack of response. Yet we still rush and get aide to foreign countries faster than we did to those poor residents of LA. I'm shaking my head and trying not to cry thinking back to those images, that will haunt me forever. Yet in all of this, the show presents it in a way that captures the life and energy that is unique and magical to this city. While ITA with Sea's last post, I sure am gonna hate to see this one end, and really hope they bring it back ASAP! And Ddr nice to hear, but that didn't surprise me. I can't fathom people having the style, class and overall brilliance to put this show on being anything less than class acts in real life! But still nice to hear. Ok...I just made up for all the posts I should have made about this show

I haven't seen any of Treme as I don't have cable (by choice). Are you saying the series is over? Was it supposed to be short? Or am I misunderstanding something? Whenever whatever becomes available on DVD, I plan to buy.

No Color...it's a 10 episode series and last night was the 5th. And I'm savoring every one and literally dreading it being over. You MUST catch it--it is that good! And the music is really almost like another character. I fell in love with the city and the music on my first trip there as a teenager, and have had several amazing trips there over the years, and the music has always been close to my heart. And I thought I had a good collection, but BOY, just as the show has been brilliant, the music alone is beyond brilliant too! Honestly there hasn't been one thing about this show IMHO that hasn't been excellently done.

NOLa and San Francisco are two cities I have never been to and very much want to see. Wish I had seen NOLa before Katrina. Just don't want to go during Mardi Gras. Crowds and that kind of thing are just not me at all.

WOW! Think I just found the half hour documentary you guys were talking about and it is GREAT. HBO put it up on their YouTube site if anyone else has missed it; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCEuqoXAhAE The only sad thing is seeing David Mills, the co-executive Producer and writer that died from a brain aneurysm while on location in NO. He was at one of my favorite places on earth....Cafe DuMonde. So sad, and he was such a gifted, creative man. I'd never seen him talk before this, only knew of his work. Color, you MUST go! You named 2 of my favorite cities, especially if you include Sausolito right outside San Francisco. And ITA with you about Mardi Gras. I like to go to NO when I can get a table at places and see the sights. Well there are sights to see that week, but I'd rather not LOLOL

I'd simply like to say that I'm officially an idiot! I didn't realize that Annie was played by Lucia Micarelli!! As a Josh Groban fan, that is just wrong! (plus I've been known to read her nearly always intelligent Twitters, most often when I browse his). What makes this even worse is in one of the first episodes I recall wondering if they were going for a Lucia "type." Um DUH me! Well, least she won me over again without knowing it was her. And the BEST news is I stumbled on an Esquire article about her on the show and it confirms they picked up a season 2 of Treme!!! YAY They can't air it soon it for me! If anyone wants to read the story; http://www.esquire.com/the-side/feature/lucia-micarelli-treme-041610

This is a great show, but episode 10 is being advertised as the end. So I'm confused about the report that there will be a 2nd season.

I think I read that originally it was going to be one season / ten episodes, but it's done so well there will be more.

OK.. I know this was slated for one season and then was renewed.. but please, tell me they will manage to not lose John Goodman's character? Has me worried. And not just me.. see comments after this .. http://www.nola.com/treme-hbo/index.ssf/2010/06/missouri_native-turned-new_orl.html

For the season ending episode for me there was an strange shift in time from post to pre Katrina. I had to watch that portion a second time to confirm by watching more closely. John Boutte who sang the Sam Cooke song " A Long Time Coming" also sings the show theme song. I also noticed Art Neville of the Neville Brothers jamming with the musicians which if I am correct my 2nd sighting of a Neville. years ago I had the opportunity to meet Aaron Neville and slipped my arm around his waist when a photo was being snapped. He makes me crazy.....Pant pant. To top it off he said that the trees like the Lord had used a paint brush to color them as it was autumn in WV which is my fav time of the year. More points for Mr.Sexy.
