Holly I do not think it is a put on. At one point the body can get used to the pain and the person no longer seems ill. This happend to me with my gallbladder. It was the middle of the night and the tech was called to do my scan. He was pissed because they woke him up. He said you look fine but we will do the scan anyways. During the scan he said OMG I have to get you into surgery now. I just became used to the pain.

I read earlier that the "exit" interview that we saw was prerecorded at the start of the season...go ahead and spoil another illusion Survivor producers!

Holly - the producers could not have known how the audience would react - hate him/love him, or love to hate him (like Russell). This was filmed months ago. Roxip - it was probably done after-the-fact (he got out of the New Zealand hospital, cleaned up, put him in a jungle setting, film it). I'm thinking that's probably what happened.

Scooter, you gotta quit this agreeing with me thing... it's throwing me off balance... LOL Oh Karuna, it's not just you; she follows all the mods around the board, 'concurring' and 'TIA'ing all over the place

Kona, you are correct! I always forget it's not live but recorded months earlier. Doh. But. I still wouldn't put anything past those in charge of these programs. Anything for "good TV" seems to be the motto.

Holly, I know for a fact that Ms. Scooter has never been shy about disagreeing with me.

Holly, I think that if the producers thought that a player was causing a lot of controversy and putting people off, they would absolutely love it and would hate doing anything to bring it to an end. Drama is the heart of reality shows. The more the better. And they never seem to shy away from the nasty sort. But then would we ever watch them if there was no drama? So I guess we are complicit in what happens.

Do your remember when you were in school, the kids who were always so funny. They always had a clever remark to make for every occasion. But they were never cruel. they knew how to gently poke fun at someone [without] hurting them. And would poke as much fun at themselves as much as they did at others. So it never deteriorated into bullying. I bet everyone of you knew someone like that. Then there was the one who tried to be funny, but the remarks never seemed to come out right. They were cruel and usually pointed to a specific person. And they thought themselves very clever.I bet you all knew someone like that also. And these people could be boys or girls. Gender did not seem to matter. When I was in high school, there was a boy who thought he was very clever and funny. He was always making snarky remarks about other students, trying to make people laugh. Often times those remarks were cruel and just mean. He never seemed to realize that most people did not find him amusing at all. I guess because people did laugh. He kept it up until the day he made one of the girls cry with a very cruel remark about her looks. Another boy, who was not her boyfriend by the way, took exception to his remark and decked him. Did him a world of good. He learned a lesson the hard way, but it worked. His cruel remarks stopped. Today there would have been a big stink about the "fight" but back then most people just thought he got what had been coming to him for a long time. I think Colton has a lot of this in him. I think he tries very hard to be funny. But he does not have a kind heart and so has not learned the difference in funny and mean. He needed someone to deck him a long time ago.

Just reread my last post and realized I made a really big goof in the following sentence. "But they were never cruel. they knew how to gently poke fun at someone with hurting them." Meant to say they knew how to gently poke fun at someone "without" hurting them. Kind of made a big difference in meaning.

Allietex, good point. I can't stand him, but in a way, I feel sorry for him. He is so young (and immature for his age) and also very ignorant about the world, I think. I also think he hasn't been taught acceptance of differences and possibly maybe even be taught not to accept differences. Anyway, I hope he grows, matures, and learns from his awful behavior and this whole experience and way of thinking and becomes a better person for it.

BTW, did anyone catch that really odd confessional that Kat did? It was right after her tribe read Tree Mail, after Colton was carried out. Here's her exact words... "The Treemail said that both tribes are going to Tribal Council. And, I don’t have any fingernails right now. Like, all the dirt is in my mouth. And it was nutritious but it was disgusting. I’m really nervous about it."
It did go to a shot of her chewing her fingernails. But, that was the most disjointed confessional I've heard!

Who, I saw that. I assumed she was nervous that she would be the one voted out, so she was chewing on her fingernails.
