Oh, that is a big regret, that I didn't go back to Washington then.. I naively thought that it would continue touring and that I'd get to see the entire quilt somewhere, sometime, but it tragically grew too large. That reminds me of the video Common Threads, which I probably still have on VHS, with nothing no hooked up VHS player to let it play.. off to Amazon.. found a used DVD..
In Pasadena, though I just went up to see it, I was able to help lay out portions of the quilt in the choreographed way they did. Then off to search out Jim's panel and get a picture for friends and for Chuck, who wasn't physically able to get up there by then.
That would be super if Nike would let you put up a good version.. the ad is relevant to this day.
Snoops, I am so sorry.. so many tough losses and I think people don't realize that they still happen. Of course the good news is so many people like Ric and his husband and others are doing so well and thriving.
Well, Evel Dick has promoted discussion here and I'm sure in many places.
There were some super ignorant posts on the People site, but thankfully many answering posts as well.

Thank you for sharing, Uncle Ricky. A dear friend of mine (first boyfriend at age 17) was diagnosed after you and chose the suicide-now route in 1991. I didn't find out about it until Christmas when my annual card resulted in a phone call from his grieving partner. I am still kind of mad at him for not hanging in, but life can be a crapshoot, eh?

Just watched interview on 'breaking news journal'...such a bizarre setting, hotel room, messy un-made beds, 2 women lounging/sitting on bed in background. Donny talked about experience in House, announced engagement to Christine.

I have a friend that contracted HIV from her first sexual experience in college. It has progressed to AIDS but she's doing great. I tell all the young people in my life to please be careful and take care of yourself. I don't bother to tell them to abstain, I just preach about being safe should you make choice to engage and my friend let's them know that it only takes one time unprotected.

I followed a you tube link from a fan thread last night. There were a few listed down the side so I decided to look at a few more. Then I saw a link for fights in the BB house. When I checked that one, I saw that other seasons were listed, grouped in bunches. I didn't see then in order and I didn't see a link for seasons 1-7 until this afternoon.
These are not short video's, but I did enjoy then.

These groupings had to have taken hours upon hours to put together. The first one was posted in Oct 2014, so they haven't been around that long. The fights were some that I never wanted to see again, but it was nice to see some of the old cast members again. I also enjoyed watching the house change over the years.

For all you Derrick Levasseur fans, earlier this year he published a book, The Undercover Edge: Find Your Hidden Strengths, Learn to Adapt, and Build the Confidence to Win Life’s Game. The publisher has classified it as a "Self-Help/Communication" title.
I neither hated nor liked him while he was on BB, but I happened upon a copy of the book in the library this afternoon. And while I otherwise would never read a book like this (not a fan of the self-help genre), I'm curious to see how well he writes it and to see how much he mentions BB.

I finished Derrick's book last night and it wasn't bad nor was it good.
The good:
The sections where he gives detailed glimpses of his law enforcement work. I won't give anything away, but he includes two extremely frightening incidents that I'd not heard him talk about while in the BB house, but that doesn't mean he didn't talk about them (I didn't get the live feeds).
I also liked how he shared his problems with alcohol and the struggles he faced within his own family growing up.
The not-so-good:
Oh, boy, so much. The most glaring is that he writes like he talks. It drove me cuckoo, but others might not find it so annoying. Littered throughout, over and over, are phrases that have, in my opinion, no business in a book of this type, e.g., "To be honest..."; "I'm not gonna lie...", "If I'm being honest..."; 'It goes without saying...", etc.
The copy-editing was a bit sloppy, e.g., spelling the word 'hear' as 'here' - stuff like that.
At one point he makes reference to traveling to L.A. to "finish filming" but he doesn't explain what he was "filming" so the sentence makes no sense.
At another point he refers to Julie Chen as "the great Julie Chen..." -- us BB fans understand why he would refer to her as "great" but the readers who don't know her (or BB) will probably find this annoying. I certainly did (and I like Julie!).
He mentions BB only sporadically, mostly in the context of how he manipulated the other contestants to do what he wanted them to do.
Overall, I thought he presented his discussion points in an overly simplistic way, kind of how he might present them to a communications class at a community college. In other words, the younger the audience is for the book, the more that audience will appreciate it versus older readers (like me) who have been around a while.
Finally, I'd advise getting a copy from the library, but I see it available for $6.00 in Kindle form.
Dipo, he doesn't specifically say he had help writing the book, but he does credit someone named Michael Christian with helping him to "become a better writer" as well as "challenging him to push his abilities and serving as his mentor throughout the entire process."
