Monday's Mission

LOL, yep, Dipo, I try to avoid going out if it's raining or too windy. I much prefer "enjoying" nasty weather from the comfort of my home, lol.

Yesterday I finally made it to Costco and ran my errands. Dakota spent the day at her boyfriends house watching movies with his family, so Darren went with me. Usually I avoid taking him because he's one of those who wanders the aisles tossing stuff in the buggy that's not on my list. Only time me and Dakota stray from the list is when I forgot to add something to it or that one time I picked up the Costco sized bag of chocolate chips. Have to say I was impressed with his restraint, not one item made it into my buggy that wasn't on my list.

Today we took Kota to buy a new mattress. She was due for one. Ollie is thrilled and pretty sure it's for him. We'd no sooner changed out the mattresses and made her bed than he ran in and piled up right in the middle of it. Heh, and I pointed out tonight when she left her bedroom (and Ollie in her bed) that she left the light on. She said she left it on for him. When Darren wanted to know what I was complaining about and I told him she left her light on for the dog, Darren wasn't the least bit bothered by it, said..."Well, Ollie really is scared of the dark!" I'm going to have to get the dog a nightlight!

Anyway, vacuumed the hallway and stairs, wiped down the trim and banister and attacked the corners with my duster. Did some laundry and cleaned up the kitchen.

Tomorrow is Kota's drs appt. Haven't decided what else I'll be doing. I want to dye my hair sometimes this week, or at least get the dye. Need to balance the checkbook. Probably some minor housework as well.

Caleb's back to not feeling well...the kids (Caleb, his bff, Kota and my nieces) have been passing something back and forth for what seems like forever now and he's sick again. Second time for him. Think I'm going to use the left over chicken to make chicken noodle soup. Nothing else seems to be working to help him feel better, maybe soup will. Sad thing is, grandma told him and his bestie about the Indian Musuem and the park attatched to it so him, bestie, and another friend went out there today and they had a great time. They spent most the day out there taking pictures. Came home, told me all about it, then said he was going to lay down for a while cuz his head was hurting and when he got up an hour or so later, his throat was sore, he was achy, and running a fever. At least he's out of school tomorrow and can spend the day resting.

Buffalo Cauliflower Bites, I was planning to make them for Super Bowl, but then I had chili and potato skins so I decided to wait.

I waited so long I forgot I had the cauliflower, LOL. I checked it and it has a couple of brown/black spots so I need to google to see if I can just cut them off and then do the recipe.

Just finished baking up some bacon, then I roasted the asparagus, so the cauliflower is up next. Trying to stop buying food and letting it spoil.

Plus I have a bunch of sausage soup, so I am set for the rainy week.

I did get around to paying bills and the kitchen is all straightened up, not sure what, if anything will get done today other than cooking.

Cauliflower is prepped and drying before I roast in the oven, then I cover with a Sirachi sauce.

Now I need to find out if you can freeze scallions, somehow I have ended up with 3 bunches, LOL.

Ok, Cauliflower is done, other than being really spicy I don't see anything special about this recipe.

I liked the roasted Asparagus better. But I did get the kitchen all cleaned up from all the cooking, LOL.

Just ushered a bee out the slider, not sure how it got in here but found it in the kitchen.

Hey! I googled that Sirachi sauce, and dang that's the stuff I used to only find in my Asian Food stores. I always put a couple/three large squirts of it in my Ham-&-Clean-out-the pantry-dried-beans (lots of ham) soup. Lentils, navy beans, pintos, limas - whatever dried beans were in there, but soaked them according to size since limas take a LOT longer to soak than the lentils which I added at the last, overnight in my soaking pot. The beans give different textures, while the ham kicks in.

Then, before tossing in the crockpot I would boil beans together for a tad with half/one teaspoon of baking soda - WATCH CAREFULLY because once it starts to boil it will blow up fuzz & make a mess. Once that happened, rinse in a colindar and toss into the crockpot with fresh water & ham. - (Seriously cuts down the later gas/phart effect, hey I used to volunteer cook for the Mountaineers ski lodge where that was mightily appreciated.)

EVERY time I took my crockpot into work, the Crews went absolutely nuts and always polished it off. Made it for Kid Sis & Grandkids and they went crazy too, even took the last to feed her husband and MIL when they hit Phx.

OMG, how funny that you can buy it at regular stores. Putting on my grocery list.
THX Dipo!

Memories light the corners of my crockpot

Tuesday's Mission

Heh, I bet my nieces would chow down on some buffalo cauliflower! Caleb and Kota would too, but they eat cauliflower anyways, the girls don't.

We got done with Kota's appt quicker than expected so she went to babysit after it. Caleb stayed home in bed, he's feeling terrible and not going to classes tomorrow. I also called and cancelled his dentist appt on Wednesday. Just a guess but I don't think the dentist wants to be all up in his mouth when he's got a sore throat and is coughing and hacking, lol. Did a bit of cleaning, then ran to the store for sprite and nyquil for Caleb. Also went by my sisters.

My bil has an appt out of town tomorrow for some lab work. He probably won't be back in time, so Kota will be picking the girls up from school and bringing them here. Works for me...I picked up 2 gallons of milk the other day at Costco, totally forgot I'd had Dakota pick up a gallon the day before. Finishing two gallons before they go bad is pushing it (neither me or Dakota drink it) and no way we'll go through three. I told sis make sure she takes one home with her when she comes to get the girls, lol. If I'd thought about it, I would have taken it when I went by there today.

Tomorrow, no plans except being at home. Figure I'll get some cleaning done, though not sure yet what cleaning that'll be. I also have to call the dentist office back...I told them I wanted to cancel Caleb's appt, I just realized I didn't ask which appt time she cancelled! No idea if Dakota has to be there at 430 or 5, lol. They always schedule the kids back to back and because I take them both at the same time, I don't write down whose appt is at what time...just "Kids dentist 430/5".

LOL, Biscottiii, you were ahead of the times, the chefs finally discovered it.

Wargod I am like you, will probably clean something just don't know what it might be yet, LOL.

Now I am just clearing my email, twitter and tvch.

As I suspected I got sidetracked and ended up cleaning the bathroom. I went to measure my toilet because I need to replace the toilet and had researched it on youtube so I can do it myself.

I was pretty sure it was easy and I knew how but I wanted to check for sure. Anyway, needed to confirm I had a standard toilet which meant taking a measurement, which let to cleaning the toilet and then the rest of the bathroom, LOL.

Maybe I will try putting up the new towel rack, and do the caulking I want to do when the new toilet seat comes in.

Oh yeah, I swept the office and foyer as well, need to go on and sweep the kitchen.

Hey Dipo, just a note of caution. When I had to replace my upstairs toilet the Lowes contractor did a crappy job. Yapped on his cellphone the entire time & screwed it in so tight that he left cracks in the bottom of the new toilet itself. Leaks running out the floor. Unfortunately we had massive rains & floods going on and it took Lowes 3 days to get him back w/new toilet. I insisted they bring a new wax ring too.

A couple years later my own contractor yanked out the toilet while replacing the floor linoleum. He had the standard wax ring but had to go back to the store for another larger wax ring.

Hell no, he said, this one needs extra protection (only $5.00 or so) and seals while he was installing both small & large rings at the same time. My contractor has never been proven wrong, saved my house after all the mold abatement where every pipe in my house had to be replaced.

So I'm just putting a bug in your ear Dipo, to perhaps take that into consideration.

I am only replacing the seat and lid, not the toilet, I would never, ever, try to replace the toilet, hahahahaha.

But I did note that they said to be sure not to tighten it down too much or it would break so I will be cautious.

Thanks.

Wednesday's Mission

Hahaha, Flylady is giving me the day off, I don't wear makeup! Only thing I have that would qualify as makeup is chapstick and nail polish and the nail polish I go through every December and get rid of anything old because Dakota usually buys me some for Christmas!

With the girls here today and Kota's boyfriend, I decided to scrub the kitchen and bathroom. Wiped counters, stove, fridge, microwave, cabinets. Cleaned the bathroom. Swept both floors (and the entryway) and mopped. Also wiped down the wall and trim in the downstairs hallway. Since I'd done the stairs and upstairs hallway the other day and it's about time to spring clean, figured might as well. Also did a bit of picking up here and there around the house.

Tomorrow is Kota's dentist appt (at 430, receptionist laughed when I called and told her I forgot to ask what time Kota should be there, she said she forgot to tell me which appt time she'd cancelled for Caleb.) Really don't have much else planned so I might wipe walls and trip in the dining room. Thinking about cleaning carpets at some point in the next couple weeks, but I doubt I'll start that tomorrow.

Not sure what is on the plan for today, probably just office stuff. I do need to file my taxes, keep forgetting since I was so relieved when I finished them.

Also have a board meeting tonight, so need to prepare for that. We shall see what gets done, LOL.
